Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) - http://free.ed.gov/ - The recently designed FREE web site provides teaching and learning resources from federal agencies. The goal of FREE is to make it easier for individuals to find more than 1500 teaching and learning resources available from the federal government.
American Foundation of the Blind - www.afb.org/ - The American Foundation for the Blind promotes wide-ranging, systemic change by addressing the most critical issues facing the growing blind and visually impaired population - employment, independent living, literacy, and technology. AFB has developed an online course that has been tested/used by vision rehabilitation professionals. The estimated time to complete the existing modules is 3-4 hours.
Build Literacy - www.BuildLiteracy.org - Build Literacy.org is a website designed to help libraries improve literacy services and programs. The website features information, materials, and resources about how libraries, local agencies, and corporate partners work together to build stronger community-based literacy partnerships and more literate communities.
Children of the Code - childrenofthecode.org/cotcintro.htm - Children of the Code is the story of the invention of the alphabet and its effects on civilization, our brains, our consciousness and even how we learn to read. The Code has three major components. A three hour public television documentary series; a ten hour university and professional development DVD series and teacher and parent presentations and seminars. The series was created under advisement from scientists, scholars and teachers.
National Endowment for Financial Education - www.nefe.org/ - The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) is a non-profit foundation whose goal is to help individuals achieve financial independence. NEFE partners with other organizations to provide financial education to underserved individuals. The Education Programs area of the website provides practical money-management skills and an introduction to financial planning through course work that covers the fundamentals of money management.

The Gateway to Educational Materials - thegateway.org/ - The Gateway to Educational Materials is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. It is an access point for educational resources found on various federal, state, and university, non-profit and commercial web sites.
America’s Literacy Directory - www.literacydirectory.org - This is a database of literacy programs maintained by the National Institute for Literacy. Categories include: Programs for Adults and Young Adults, Programs for Children, Learning Disabilities, and Volunteer Opportunities.
American Library Association - www.ala.org/literacy/ - Find information about ALA Office for Literacy and Outreach Services and ALA's initiative on strengthening library-based adult literacy programs.
The Educator's Reference Desk - http://www.eduref.org/- Search over 3000 resources on a variety of educational issues. This collection includes Internet sites, educational organizations, and electronic discussion groups.
International Reading Association - www.reading.org/ - Learn about this professional membership association which is dedicated to improving the quality of reading instruction and disseminating research and information about reading.
LD Online - www.ldonline.org/ - The site includes weekly links to current articles about learning disabilities, definitions of and FAQs for LD and ADD/ADHD, a monthly focus topic, book reviews, and an extensive resource collection.
Learning Disabilities Association of America - www.ldanatl.org/ - This is LDA’s official site, and it provides information about the Association, as well as resources, publications, a bookstore, news, events, and so forth.
National Institute for Literacy - www.nifl.gov - Find out more about the Institute's programs and services, which encourage the development and provision of high quality adult education and literacy services. This site features a literacy search engine, the National LINCS, and offers information about the Partnership for Reading program, the effective teaching of reading for both children and adults from evidence-based research. This site also features many literacy related online discussion lists.
National LINCS - www.nifl.gov/cgi-bin/texis/webinator/lincs_search - Use this search engine by typing in your plain English question about literacy. The site is maintained by the National Institute for Literacy.
New Readers Press - www.newreaderspress.org - New Readers Press, the publishing division of ProLiteracy Worldwide, offers a treasure trove of publications for adult learners and those who help them. Visit their online catalog for listings of books on adult literacy, pre-GED, ESL, workplace, etc., as well as their popular newspaper in plain English: News for You.
